We welcomed Ava Jane to the world on June 10th, 2026, and life has been a blur since. There is so much to say about this whole experience - pregnancy, birth and labour, fatherhood, confidence, identity, the state of Canadian healthcare, sleep exhaustion (to name a few) - but the most significant, most profound takeaway, is how much more love there is in the universe all of a sudden. I love Ellen more, I love our dog more, I love every person who meets Ava more. I feel more open, more empathetic, and I'm feeling everything more deeply. Like The Grinch, my heart has grown a few sizes.
As a bit of an aside, I'd like to give a little shout-out to all the videos I watched of fans during the world cup. I cried a lot lol. The Kansas locals who learned Algerian football chants, the Mexican fans that were celebrating the Japanese fans - their humanity was a real contrast to what I’m used to seeing in the news, and made me a lot less anxious about welcoming our daughter into the world.
While music has taken an obvious back seat in terms of my priorities this summer, it feels auspicious to be releasing Shine next. A song about love - possessive, obsessive love that you want to keep all to yourself. A song about my wife, whom I love now more than ever. We will be releasing Shine on August 19th, just about a year to the day that Ellen and I got married. Pre - save it here.
If you haven't already, go and listen to Set the record straight, All the way it feels, and Goldrush and send them to your friends! If you prefer watching a video, watch our music videos here.
Sharing music is a love language. If you enjoy listening to the music we make, please share it however you share music <3
